SPELLING Nov 26 to 30

1st TERM 2nd HALF WEEK Nov 26th to 30th Lesson 11 :  Words with the Sound of long e CW:  T will read “Olympic Gold” on p. 45 aloud, while explaining unknown vocabulary. Then, T will read Word list on p.46 and students will repeat while explaining meanings through examples. After, Sts will do activities, in pairs, on pp. 46-48, while teacher checks on site. HW:   Do Lesson 12 (pp.49 - 52). Due. Monday, December 3rd.  Study Lessons 7 to 11 for Spelling Test. For the test, T. will dictate 50-60 words and then Sts will have to write 25-30 meaningful sentences with words picked by T.  On Friday Nov. 30th we will decide on having the test on Monday, December 3rd or Wednesday, December 12th. 1st year "B" Test on Monday Dec 3rd 1st years "A" and "C" Test on Wednesday Dec 12th

COMPOSITION Nov 26 to 30

1st TERM 2nd HALF WEEK  Nov 26th to 30th Unit 2. Lesson 2.4  Prewriting: Ordering Ideas  (pp. 58-60).  Lesson 2.5  Drafting: Getting It in Writing (pp. 62-64) Objective:   Sts will prioritize ideas during prewriting and generate a first draft from prewriting notes . CW:   While T. checks homework, Sts will read from  p. 58 to p. 64 in silence. Then they will take turns in reading aloud, while T. explains. After, Sts will choose one of the topics or clusters done for homework, with its purpose and audience, and copy it again and begin drafting (writing).

GRAMMAR Nov 26 to 30

1st TERM 2nd HALF WEEK Nov 26th to 30th Unit 9. NOUNS. Review Lesson 9.1 to 9.6: Types of Nouns ( common, proper, concrete, abstract); Compound Nouns (one word, hyphenated, more than one word); Possessive Nouns (add 'S or '); Distinguishing Plurals, Possessives, and Contractions; Collective Nouns (check verb and other words to know if the collective noun is singular or plural); Appositives (it adds information about the noun). T. will do a cluster on the board  to review NOUNS while asking Sts to give examples.  After,we will do oral exercises of lessons that were most difficult to understand. HW: Study for test on Friday November 28th (during Spelling hours and please also take your Spelling Workbook to school). Remember test dates have been moved due to the fact of not having class from Dec. 4th until the 10th, both dates included.

CASTELLANO - Ejercicios de Análisis Gramatical o Morfológico

Buenas tardes.  Para el próximo martes, 27 de noviembre, hacer el ANÁLISIS GRAMATICAL O MORFOLÓGICO de cada una de las palabras subrayadas en las siguientes oraciones. SPELLING November 19 to 23

1st TERM 2nd HALF WEEK Nov 19th to 23rd Lesson 9 :  Silent Consonants Lesson 10 : Vocabulary with ear , are , and air CW:  Sts will take turns reading “Coat of Arms” on p. 37, while T asks if they know meaning of boldfaced vocabulary (examples in English) and explain what they don't. T will read Word list on p.38 and students will repeat while explaining meanings through examples and images. Then, T. will read "Super Sledding" on p. 41  while asking Sts if they know meaning of boldfaced vocabulary (examples in English) and explain what they don't. T will read Word list on p.42 and students will repeat while explaining meanings through examples and images.  After, Sts will do activities, individually, on pp. 38-40, and pp.42-444, while teacher checks on site. HW: Finish classwork. Do paragraphs "Writing a Mini-Mystery" (p. 40) and " Writing a questionnaire" (p.44). Due. Friday, November 30th.

COMPOSITION November 19 to 23

1st TERM 2nd HALF WEEK  Nov 19th to 23rd Unit 2. Lesson 2.2  The Writing Process: Finding and Exploring a Topic  (pp. 50-52).  Lesson 2.3 Prewriting: Determining Purpose and Audience (pp. 54-56) Objective:  To use Prewriting techniques to generate a topic and identify the purpose and audience for a piece of writing. CW:   Sts. will copy the four purposes for writing (Telling, Describing, Inform or Explain, and Persuade); Examples of Audiences and different forms of writing (Essay, Story, Poem, or Report). Then each team from last class will get together to continue working on their posters of the writing process to post in the classroom and keep in mind when writing. HW:   1st "A" and "C": Due on Monday, Nov. 26th            1st "B":  Due on Wednesday, Nov. 28th Collect three topic ideas using clustering (look at p. 52). For each topic identify the purpose and the audience.
